Meet our cat lady!

Some of the most meaningful journeys begin with simply opening a door.

In 2024, Marylou Bell opened her home to pregnant cats, mother cats, and tiny kittens who had nowhere else to go. What she saw was heartbreaking—more and more cats were being left behind, abandoned, or born into a world without a safe place to call home. The need in the Erie community was growing, and she knew she couldn’t change everything, but she could change something.

So she started with one family at a time.

For as long as she can remember, Marylou has had a heart for animals. She believes every cat deserves to be treated with kindness, patience, and compassion, no matter where they came from or what they’ve been through. Opening her home wasn’t just about providing shelter—it was about giving frightened mothers a quiet place to raise their babies, helping sick or neglected kittens heal, and showing every cat what it feels like to be safe and loved.

As more cats found their way through her door, one thing became clear: this was bigger than one home. It became a mission.

Today, our rescue is a foster-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats and kittens in need. Every cat that enters our care receives veterinary care, proper nutrition, socialization, and, most importantly, the time and love they need to heal before finding a forever family.

We celebrate every adoption, but we never forget where each journey began—with a frightened cat who simply needed someone to care.

None of this would be possible without the kindness of our community. Every adoption, donation, volunteer, and foster home helps us save another life. Together, we are giving homeless cats not only a second chance, but the opportunity to spend the rest of their lives where they belong—in a home filled with love.
